What It Is
Melasma is driven by hormonal influence, inflammation, vascularization, basement membrane damage, and stimulus to melanocytes such as light exposure and UV radiation. The condition is characterized by brown-to-gray patches that are darker than the surrounding skin area. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation has discoloration that can be pink, red, brown, or black, depending on your skin tone.
Treatments at VIVA
Is this right for you?
Pigmentation is the area where skin type matters most. Asian and darker skin are both more prone to melasma and more easily worsened by the wrong laser, which is exactly why a careful, skin-type-specific approach is the point. If pigmentation flared after a treatment somewhere else, start here.
How It's Treated
Laser treatments create microchannels to trigger skin renewal and improve serum absorption with gentle non-ablative passes and minimal disruption to the surface. While our Cosmelan Peel suppresses excess melanin production, facial treatments help calm inflammation and brighten the skin.
What To Expect
There’s minimal downtime with facials and mild redness for lasers. Some peeling and flaking are to be expected after receiving the Cosmelan Peel treatment, with steady brightening over the following weeks. Results tend to build over weeks across a treatment series.
