Acne Treatment & Scar

What is Laser Acne & Acne Scars Tx?

Laser treatment of Active Acne reduces acne inflammation by photoselective absorption and heating of overactive sebaceous glands. The power of an Nd:YAG laser is used to accelerate the healing process and to reduce the possibility of developing new acne inflammation.

Laser treatment of Acne Scars is based on the precise and gentle skin resurfacing procedure where the Er:YAG laser is absorbed by the top micro-layers of the skin to vaporize scarred skin and stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis.

Best clinical results are obtained by employing two complementary wavelengths of near infrared lasers (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG – TwinLight Tx).

How Does It Work?

Active Acne

A high power Nd:YAG laser is used to penetrate the skin deep enough to thermally and selectively destroy large sebaceous glands.

Acne Scars

The Er:YAG laser is used to remove micron-thin layers of skin so that new skin can form in its place. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser resurfacing allows to be easily controlled. The laser gently vaporizes the acne-scarred surface of the skin so that undamaged skin below is revealed.

How To Prepare For An Appointment

To achieve the expected result, a course of treatment including three sessions will need to be completed, and a contrasting effect will be shown after the entire course of treatment is over.

IMPORTANT: Please stop using Retinol, AHA, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and other acids or skin care products containing photosensitive ingredients one week before the procedure to avoid irritating the skin and causing additional discomfort after laser treatment.

Certain Antibiotics (ex. ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, tetracycline, trimethoprim) can cause photosensitivity. They are commonly prescribed for treating acne. You are advised to have laser treatment two weeks after stopping your antibiotic treatment.

Before 3-5 days of the procedure, start paying extra attention to moisturizing. If possible, you can use a hydrating mask daily to give your skin an extra  boost of hydration and prepare for the laser treatment.

Please do not wear ANY makeup or contact lens to your visit. Before your procedure begins, we will have to clean your face thoroughly and put numb cream on the target area and it will take around 30 minutes to work. This time is not included in the procedure duration listed on our website.

Please bring sun protection to your visit as you may need it after your visit.

After the procedure, you might experience dry skin, peeling, tightness, slight flushing, and mild pain. These are all natural responses of the skin. Please pay close attention to sun protection, moisturize properly, and do not rub your face.

For each individual, the effect of this project has a certain timeliness. We will do our best to provide you with the most perfect service. There is no one-and-done project for skin care; please treat it rationally.
