What It Is & What Is Treated
Medically known as onychomycosis, toe fungus is a persistent microbial infection under and inside the nail plate caused primarily by dermatophyte molds. Such molds thrive on keratin and in warm and dark environments. Characteristics of the infection include discoloration (white, yellow, or brown), thickening and/or deforming of the nail plate, and faint foul odor.

How It’s Treated
Using Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser energy, the applicator is passed over the entire affected nail, the nail folds, and sometimes the sole of the foot, heating them to temperatures that may be harmful to fungal organisms.
What To Expect
Each session takes about 15-30 minutes, with little to no downtime. The damaged fungus disappears gradually across a treatment series.
